Visitors to Delaware Park Casino may soon be noticing some major changes. The property, located in Wilmington, will see a renovation to the gaming area coming soon.
This is all part of an eight-figure renovation that will update aesthetics and add more gaming options for players. Delaware Park was purchased in 2021 by a Canadian private equity firm in 2021 for $90 million. The group is now looking to make some investment in the property after the deal.
“Less than two years after being acquired by new investors, Delaware Park Casino and Racing is undergoing a $10 million renovation to update its look and bring new assets to patrons,” the Delaware Business Times noted. “The renovations, which are underway and anticipated to be completed by this fall, aim to transform the main casino floor.
In other news, Las Vegas also saw another interesting crime recently with a man riding his motorcycle into casinos on the Strip.
Details on the Renovation
Delaware Park features more than 1,900 slot machines on two levels of table games along with seasonal live thoroughbred racing, year-round simulcast wagering, a poker room, sportsbook, dining options, and a brewery. Slot play in the state is actually on video lottery terminals (VLTs), which are machines based on lottery-style gaming. The same machines can also be found at Bally’s Dover and Harrington Raceway and Casino.
The Delaware Park renovation has already begun and will include adding high-end baccarat and blackjack areas, upgraded slot cabinet configurations, and new food and beverage options. Players may also notice new slots and updated fixtures including custom chandeliers and lighting, new gaming furniture, carpeting, vaulted ceilings, murals, and a larger VIP bar.
Company officials hope to make the property more like a casino resort players might find in Las Vegas or Atlantic City.
“The renovation will usher a new look and future for Delaware Park Casino & Racing, bringing notes of Las Vegas and Atlantic City to Delaware,” Delaware Park President and general manager Terry Glebocki said. “Our goal is to make the property more modern and comfortable for our existing guests as well as to attract new audiences, making our casino a premier destination in the region.”
Motorcyclist Rolls Through Casinos
Gamblers along the Las Vegas Strip may have witnessed an interesting and unexpected scene. A man rode his dirt bike onto gaming floors at several casinos, creating quite a disturbance as visitors tried to play some slots and table games.
The Las Vegas police department’s RAID (Racing Apprehension and Intervention Detail) officers conducted surveillance of the situation and were able to apprehend the rider.
“This individual had created multiple events on Las Vegas Boulevard, where he rode through casino floors, up stairs and escalators,” police noted in a Tweet. “He did wheelies up and down Las Vegas Boulevard and ran from law enforcement.”

The crazy crime comes just after police also busted a man alleged to have recently scammed Circa casino out of $1 million by claiming to be the owner of the hotel. The rider’s motorcycle and truck were seized as part of the arrest, which police said occurred without incident.
The crime comes as visitors have flooded into Las Vegas during which is a traditionally big week centered around the Strip. After the arrest, a litany of charges followed for the dirt bike rider. He now faces:
- three felony counts of driver disobey peace officer, endangering person or property
- four gross misdemeanor counts of disregard for the safety of person or property
- four misdemeanor counts of reckless driving
- one felony count of assault with a deadly warrant
- one felony count of child abuse and neglect
- one felony count of coercion with force or threat of force
The man’s name wasn’t released by police. In this crime, it seems the rider was more interested in causing mayhem and joy riding than committing crimes like theft. However, Las Vegas-area casinos have seen other motorcycle-related incidents in the past.
Motorbikes seem to make for an easy escape method as a bandit makes off with cash and casino chips. In 2010, a man on a motorcycle parked his bike outside the Bellagio and went inside with his helmet on. Anthony Carleo was dressed in black, holding a gun, and quickly made his way to the gaming floor.
He then took $1.5 million in chips before heading out the door and got back on his bike to make an exit. Cops eventually nabbed Carleo when he returned to the Bellagio to try and gamble some of his stolen chips. He had several $25,000 chips, which weren’t easy to exchange without drawing attention. He instead tried to sell them for less than face value and ended up being sentenced to nine years in prison.
